Topical Teams - targeted topic-based collaborations with top researchers from partner institutions worldwide in order to deepen the focus of IQOQI-Vienna's research work.
The exchange of knowledge within the framework of cooperations is an important stimulus for successful research. As an institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, IQOQI-Vienna has access to top-level research at partner academies, universities and research institutions worldwide. Topical Teams enable targeted topic-based collaborations with partner institutions worldwide, in which the main research topics of IQOQI-Vienna are deepened.
Together with the Walther Meissner Institute (WMI) of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, we investigate the experimental basis for gravitational coupling of levitated superconductors in the quantum regime. The WMI is a world leader in the field of low-temperature physics and superconductivity. (Lead Scientists: WMI: Hans Hübl, Rudolf Gross / IQOQI: Markus Aspelmeyer, Michael Trupke).
Together with the Faculty of Physics of the University of Vienna and the Institute of High Energy Physics (HEPHY) of the ÖAW, we investigate experimental and theoretical aspects at the interface between quantum physics, gravitation and cosmology within the research platform TURIS (Lead Scientists: UNIVIE: Philip Walther, Piotr Crusciel, Joao Alves / HEPHY: Josef Pradler / IQOQI: Markus Aspelmeyer, Caslav Brukner, Marios Christodoulou, Markus Müller).
Together with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, we explore fundamental aspects of the distribution of quantum entanglement over long distances and its relevance for future quantum communication networks within the "Quantum Physics Hub: Austria-China". (Lead Scientists: CAS: Jian Wei Pan, Yu-Ao Chen / IQOQI: Marcus Huber, Anton Zeilinger).
