Geometric optimization of thermodynamic processes
One of the main ingredients is the concept of "thermodynamic length", which associates a metric structure to the set of thermal equilibrium states. The integrated length of such metric quantifies the dissipation in the limit of slow-driving of the working fluid, which allows maximization of power-efficiency tradeoffs using geometric techniques. We also show that in the opposite limit of fast-driving other mathematical tools simplify the power maximization.
