Application procedure

Upon application, prospective participants are asked to submit a short "Statement of Motivation" (max. 1500 characters) to describe why they think this unconventional workshop structure would be a good fit for them (i.e., in relation to the “concept” described on this website), and that contains some indication of their research interests, areas of expertise, as well as of their original approach. The applications will firstly be reviewed anonymously, therefore the "Statement of Motivation" should not contain elements that can reveal the identity of the participants.

Please note that participants of the previous editions of Kefalonia Foundations workshop are not eligible.

After acceptance

After acceptance, all confirmed participants will gather online to get to know each other, and pairs will be formed. Once everyone is paired, each pair will propose 3 papers that they are interested in working on during the workshop and the organizers will select the most suitable paper for each pair. 

Suitable papers should be about interesting, puzzling, or not fully explored research programs in the field of fundamental quantum physics instead of just following up on results that are strictly technical. Notice that, due to time constraints, suitable papers should not require too specific prior knowledge and should have a contained length (definitely not exceeding the maximal length of 30 pages, single column, or 15 pages, double column).

Moreover, the applicants cannot propose papers of which they are co-authors or that have been already proposed in previous editions.

 

Fees

Accepted participants are requested to pay a fee of 300,00 Euros (which includes accommodation, shuttle to the workshop location and back, and meals for the whole week).

Depending on funding availability, we may be able to offer financial support, in particular fee waivers. Applicants should indicate whether they are in need of such support in the application form.
